November!

Hello everyone!

I can't believe the holiday season is right around the corner! I'm not ready for the cold weather just yet, but I've become obsessed with some great fall prints. Plaids and houndstooth fabrics are very trendy this season and I have some new bow shaped clutches and sling bags in both. Check them out on my etsy site... nicoladesign.etsy.com

I'm excited to be attending the Annual Shopping on the Avenue Des Champs- Elysees in Portsmouth New Hampshire. The famous Paris shopping street will be recreated indoors in downtown Portsmouth. There will even be street musicians and yummy french deserts! I will be at 200 state street along with 40 other artisans on November 21st from 9 AM till 3 PM. http://creatingthehive.com/event/8969/champs-elysees-boutique-shopping

I'm happy to share that the Newburyport Farmers Market will be extended through the holiday season. I will be at the market on Sunday November 14th. It's still going strong through the fall and now has heaters set up outside. Get an early start to your holiday shopping (or gifts for yourself!) and stop by the Tannery shopping plaza from 10 AM till 1:00

Happy Shopping!

I hope everyone is having a great start to your summer and staying cool in this heat! I have a bunch of new braided sling bags in bright, fun, summer prints. They make great beach bags and testing them out has been my excuse to fit in as many beach days as possible!

I will be back at the Newburyport Farmers Market this Sunday, August 1st and August 22nd from 9AM-1PM. It's a great market with a ton of fresh, local produce, live music and talented crafters. If you're in the area I recommend stopping by... www.thenewburyportfarmersmarket.org

I'm also excited to be attending the Wenham museum craft festival on August 28th from 10-4. The museum is open free to the public that day as well. www.wenhammuseum.org/special_events.html I know I've been a big time slacker about updating my website but I finally have some new braided sling bags and yoga mat bags listed. I will be listing new clutches later this week too. Stop by my etsy site to check them out... nicoladesign.etsy.com

Happy Shopping!

outdoor sewing attempt two

Outdoor sewing attempt two...

It's one of those rare, perfect, New England summer days today. It's 75 degrees, sunny and dry with clear bright blue sky. If you have been unlucky enough to live in New England this past summer, you know how precious this weather is. Weeks of a scorching hot heat wave and humidity that has made any possibility of a sleek blowout in my naturally rats nest-esque curls a distant springtime memory has been interrupted only by hurricane like rainstorms.

Sorry, I don't mean to whine. The point of this blog wasn't to complain about the weather but to let you in on my plan to enjoy today to the fullest. Here's the deal.... I have a few sewing projects that I planned on working on today (I have a picture of a fabric rosette bib necklace in my head that I've been dieing to create). My problem is that it's just way too gorgeous out today to waste a day indoors. So the only solution seems to be to take this show on the road, or at least the patio.

You may have noticed that I titled this blog "outdoor sewing attempt two". I faced this same dilemma one day last year but without the use of an extension cord long enough to reach the patio table my mission was aborted before it began. So now with extra long extension cord, sunscreen, sewing machine, sunscreen and maybe a pitcher of margaritas in hand I will attempt again.

Wish me luck! I will let you know how it turn out!

Great procrastination tool!

So blogging seems to be all the rage and finally joining in on this new fangled trend (I love sounding like my grandmother) seems like a great way to procrastinate actually doing something productive.

I just went on a fabric buying spree and am surrounded by yards of fun, beautiful fabric that should be inspiring me to start a project. Usually sewing is something I love and use as an excuse to procrastinate doing something far less fun (The number of bags I finish seems to grow proportionately to how large my pile of laundry becomes). But today I have so many projects in mind and so many gorgeous fabrics I don't know where to start. Instead, I'm sitting on my living room floor surrounded by an eclectic mix of prints and a rainbow of colors and with my new favorite Anna Maria Horner Belle fabric wrapped around me like a shawl and a black and white houndstooth print over my head as a hood. I think it's time to go turn up the heat and get motivated. Maybe this blogging thing isn't such a good idea, I may be scaring away potential customers. I'll just pretend to be really artsy and tell you that this is all part of my "creative process".
